About Us

Your health and wellbeing are our priority

  • Sarah Milne and Julia Stewart established Ann Inspired Care in 2014. We are both registered nurses with a combined 30 years of nursing experience. We each have Diplomas and BSc Degrees in Adult Nursing. We have obtained our Leading and Managing Care Services awards.

We provide care to the elderly, adults with physical disabilities and also have a special interest in caring for people with Dementia. We are Dementia Friends, Dementia Ambassadors and implement the ‘Promoting Excellence Framework for Dementia’ when training staff.

We have a personal insight into the care at home business and this has highlighted the huge demand for care at home and the need for high standards of good quality, person-centred care.

We are motivated by the desire to maintain independence and allow Clients to remain within their home environment for as long as possible. Our sole purpose is to deliver a service that provides an exceptionally high standard of care to meet the individual needs of the Client in a manner that provides individual care, expertly delivered.

  • How Ann Inspired Care Began

My mum, Ann, was only 52 when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.When receiving this devastating news, the doctor asked my mum if there was anything that he could do for her. My mum replied, saying, “It’s too late for me, but I want to help other people.” Mum’s response was kind and selfless. This moment has often been called the 'Defining Moment' of Ann Inspired Care.Following Mum’s diagnosis, her condition deteriorated. We arrived at a point where we could not manage Mum’s challenging behaviour by ourselves. We needed help. We called for help, and Mum’s doctor arrived with a team ready to take Mum into hospital.I held onto my mum as the medical team injectedher with medication to help settle her. As I held onto my mum, she cried into my shoulder, pleading with us not to put her into a nursing home. That was absolutely not what we were doing, but Mum couldn’t understand what we were trying to do. That moment, when my mum was crying into my shoulder, was absolutely aseconddefining moment of Ann Inspired Care.Mum was admitted to our local psychiatric hospital, where they managed to settle her with regular and appropriate medication. Mum’s consultant said that she would allow Mum to go home IF they could arrange a large and comprehensivepackage of care to support her within her home. Two months later, that care was found, and we were allowed to take Mum home.

Whilst on maternity leave, I met with my good friend Julia. We talked about the challenges my mum faced while waiting for care to become available. I explained to Julia that the reason for this was the lack of care providers to support her. I told Julia that this needed to change and that we could help make it happen.

That evening, Julia and I began researching how we could bring about this change. We applied to the Care Inspectorate and completed the additional study required.

On the 19th of January 2015, Ann Inspired Care became registered with the Care Inspectorate, allowing us to begin our journey of caring for people in their own homes.

Once Ann Inspired Care was able to, we provided all of Mum’s care, allowing her to remain at home.

Sadly, my mum passed away on 2nd August, 2021. Mum was at home, surrounded by family, as we said our goodbyes. My mum’s legacy lives on through Ann Inspired Care.
